WALDORF-MD—Coming off a shutout loss the night before, the Blue Crabs rallied for a 4-3 win over the Bluefish, scoring on a wild pitch by Bridgeport’s reliever Joseph Kuzia in the bottom of the sixth, sealing the win, tying the three game series 1-1.

Bridgeport scored the first run of the game on a solo shot by Welington Dotel but the Blue Crabs answered back in the bottom of the frame on a sacrifice fly by Zach Wilson, bringing in Angel Sanchez to tie the game.

More runs came in the second inning after Blue Crabs catcher Angel Flores rocked a two-run home run to put the Blue Crabs in front-but not for long.

With an RBI single by Endy Chavez, Bridgeport inched closer to the Blue Crabs making it 3-2 and in the fourth inning, Jonathan Galvez smoked the first pitch from starting pitcher Daryl Thompson over the wall in left center to tie the game at three apiece.

The winning run came in the bottom of the sixth inning after Kuzia let a pitch slip away allowing Kuan-Jen Chen ran home putting the Blue Crabs ahead for good.

Blue Crabs starting pitcher Daryl Thompson retired the last seven batters that he faced keeping the Bluefish off the board.

Reliever Cody Eppley came in for the save and was able to finish off the 4-3 victory for the Blue Crabs. Between the Blue Crabs tight defense and the dominant bullpen’s performance, Southern Maryland topped Bridgeport to win the second game of the series.

LHP Mike Antonini (1-4, 6.95) vs. RHP Daryl Thompson (1-4, 6.95)

WALDORF,MD—Bluefish starting pitcher Jonathan Albaladejo pitched seven shutout innings to win the series opener against the Blue Crabs by a final of 1-0 on Tuesday night at Regency Furniture Stadium.

Despite an outstanding effort by Blue Crabs starting pitcher Brian Burres who put in six innings of work, the Bluefish pushed across an unearned run in the fourth inning on a Jonathan Galvez RBI single, and the Blue Crabs just couldn’t string together enough hits to score any runs against the Bluefish.

The Blue Crabs best chance at scoring came in the seventh.  Angel Flores singled to center field and later reached third on a fielder’s choice by Eric Garcia but D’Arby Myers flew out to end the inning and the chance was squandered.

The 1-5-6-5-4 double play was easily the most interesting thing that happened for a majority of the game.  In the top of the seventh, Bluefish Anthony Giansanti lead off the inning with a single and stole second but was thrown out at third on the front end of the double play hit by Rossmel Perez.

Blue Crabs Jamar Walton extended his hitting streak with two singles and has now hit safely in 12 consecutive games.

The Blue Crabs will face the Bluefish for the second game of a three-game series tomorrow night at 7:05 P.M. at Regency Furniture Stadium.
