Thursday’s Matchup
Bridgeport Bluefish vs. Southern Maryland Blue Crabs-7:05 P.M.
RHP Blake Beavan (1-1, 6.53) vs. RHP Gaby Hernandez (0-4, 4.09)

WALDORF-MD—Coming off a shutout loss the night before, the Blue Crabs rallied for a 4-3 win over the Bluefish, scoring on a wild pitch by Bridgeport’s reliever Joseph Kuzia in the bottom of the sixth, sealing the win, tying the three game series 1-1.

Bridgeport scored the first run of the game on a solo shot by Welington Dotel but the Blue Crabs answered back in the bottom of the frame on a sacrifice fly by Zach Wilson, bringing in Angel Sanchez to tie the game.

More runs came in the second inning after Blue Crabs catcher Angel Flores rocked a two-run home run to put the Blue Crabs in front-but not for long.

With an RBI single by Endy Chavez, Bridgeport inched closer to the Blue Crabs making it 3-2 and in the fourth inning, Jonathan Galvez smoked the first pitch from starting pitcher Daryl Thompson over the wall in left center to tie the game at three apiece.

The winning run came in the bottom of the sixth inning after Kuzia let a pitch slip away allowing Kuan-Jen Chen ran home putting the Blue Crabs ahead for good.

Blue Crabs starting pitcher Daryl Thompson retired the last seven batters that he faced keeping the Bluefish off the board.

Reliever Cody Eppley came in for the save and was able to finish off the 4-3 victory for the Blue Crabs. Between the Blue Crabs tight defense and the dominant bullpen’s performance, Southern Maryland topped Bridgeport to win the second game of the series.

The finale of the series will take place tomorrow evening at Regency Furniture Stadium.  The first pitch is set for 7:05 P.M.
