May 31 postgame

WALDORF, MD.— The Somerset Patriots defeated the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs on Tuesday night by the final of 10-5.  Although it was a high scoring game, it was a rather sloppy game as well as each team committed two errors.

Somerset got on the board early in the top of the first inning off a two-run double from Bryan LaHair and an RBI double from Brad Snyder.

In the bottom of the third with the Blue Crabs down 3-1, Zach Wilson stepped to the plate and ripped a three run homerun over the wall in left to give the Blue Crabs a 4-3 lead.  Somerset answered immediately in the top of the of fourth with three runs scored.  Yovan Gonzalez drove in a run with an RBI groundout.  A couple of batters later Travon Robinson ripped a single to left and later scored on a wild pitch to cap off the three-run fourth.

Right-handed pitcher Mickey Storey held the Blue Crabs scoreless for the rest of his outing as he went a total of five innings allowing four earned runs in total and retiring eight of the final nine batters he faced.

Somerset added one more run in the fifth, two more in the eighth and an insurance run in the ninth to secure the victory.  Brad Snyder had a big night offensively for Somerset going in 4-5, while driving in two runs with a home run and three doubles.  While Southern Maryland banged out 12 hits, the Blue Crabs left 10 runners on base with five of them in scoring position.

The Blue Crabs will look to even the series tomorrow at Regency Furniture Stadium.  The first pitch is set for 7:05 P.M.
