YORK PA.—After suffering a heartbreaker last night, the Revolution bounced back and defeated the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs by the wide margin of 11-0.
York scored a run in each of the first two innings, but busted through with six runs in the bottom of the third. Travis Witherspoon and Jared Mitchell each singled to start the inning. A couple of hitters later Isaias Tejada ripped a single to right to score Witherspoon to make it 3-0. A couple of batters later, Bryan Pounds smashed a two run double to left allowing Mitchell and Tejada to score. LHP Robert Carson was summoned out of the bullpen and with the bases loaded Brandon Chaves cleared the bases with a double to cap off the six run inning.
Brandon Chaves added another RBI to his stat line when he was issued a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the fifth. The next hitter Travis Witherspoon lifted a sacrifice fly to center to cap off the two run inning.
That was all RHP James Simmons needed as he went seven innings, striking out nine to pick up the victory on the hill. With the loss, the Blue Crabs currently sit 4.5 games out of first and a playoff spot. Southern Maryland returns home to start a three game series with Sugar Land tomorrow night at Regency Furniture Stadium. The first pitch is set for 7:05 P.M.
