WALDORF, MD.—Southern Maryland received three homeruns from the offense, while RHP Gaby Hernandez threw a great game to send the Blue Crabs to the game two 8-5 victory.

Somerset opened up a 3-0 lead after scoring three runs in the top of the second.  In the bottom of the second, Michael Snyder and Zach Wilson hit back to back homeruns to cut the lead to 3-2.

In the bottom of the third, Angel Flores doubled in the tying run to make it 3-3.  The Blue Crabs offense came through in a huge way in the bottom of the fifth.  With one out, Eric Garcia walked.  Two batters later Angel Sanchez doubled to put runners at second and third.  After Michael Snyder was intentionally walked, Zach Wilson stepped to the dish and launched the first grand slam of the season to left to give the Blue Crabs the 7-3 lead.  Alfredo Marte added a run with an RBI double later in the inning to complete the five run fifth.

That was all righty Gaby Hernandez needed as Hernandez picked up his fifth win in his last six starts, while retiring 16 of the final 17 batters he faced.

Somerset added two late runs off Scott Snodgress in the on the two run double by Kyle Roller, but RHP Cody Eppley set the Patriots down in order in the ninth to secure the victory.  Offensively, the Blue Crabs banged out 14 hits, and have now banged out 127 in their 12 games.  Additionally, Southern Maryland has reached double digit hits in eight of the last 12 games.

The Blue Crabs have now won five of their last seven and look to continue on their hot streak tomorrow night at Regency Furniture Stadium in game three of the series.  The first pitch is set for 7:05 P.M.
