Aug 27-postgame

WALDORF, MD.—The Blue Crabs picked up the 4-1 victory in game two of the three game set over the Sugar Land Skeeters.

RHP Brian Grening threw another great game, going seven innings, while striking out six to secure his ninth win of the season.  The only blemish on the resume of Grening this evening was the solo homerun allowed in the second inning to Jeremy Barfield.  For that point on, the righty held the Skeeters scoreless for the next 5.2 innings.  Grening has now won six of his last eight appearances.

Meanwhile, the offense sprinkled in some timely hitting.  In the bottom of the first, Gary Brown scored standing after Robbie Weinhardt uncorked a wild pitch.  In the bottom of the second, two more runs were scored on the RBI hits from D’Arby Myers and Gary Brown.  Michael Snyder chipped in with an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth to bring the score to its’ final of 3-1.

The pitching combination of Grening, Stem and Eppley held the first four Skeeters hitters to a 1-16 night at the plate.

These two teams will meet tomorrow afternoon at 2:05 P.M. for the finale of the three game set. P.M.  For tickets, log on to, or call 301-638-9788.
