WALDORF, MD.—The Blue Crabs took an early lead in game one of Wednesday’s double-header against the Barnstormers. Zach Wilson led off the second inning with a double to center field, and stole third base. Eric Garcia walked, followed by a base hit by Gary Brown to score Wilson. D’arby Myers came up to the plate next, and hit a single to center field to score Garcia, giving the Blue Crabs a 2-0 lead.

Lancaster put a run on the board in the fourth inning, led off by a Jeff Kobernus single to right. K.C. Hobson reached base on a walk, and an error by Eric Garcia allowed Kobernus to score, to cut the Blue Crabs lead to one run. D’Arby Myers led off the fifth inning with a solo home run to make to score 3-1. Bryant Nelson doubled and Zach Wilson was walked intentionally to put two runners on base, but neither were able to score.

Bryant Nelson broke the Atlantic League all-time career hits record on the first pitch of his first at bat. The single to deep center field was his 1053rd hit in his time in the Atlantic League, surpassing Jeff Nettles, who previously held the record.

The Barnstormers shut out the Blue Crabs in the second game. Right-hander Ian Marshall started for the Crabs, against Lancaster’s Justin Jackson, who was making his first start for the team. A leadoff walk, a pair of back-to-back singles and a sacrifice fly allowed the Barnstormers to score in the first inning. Third baseman Sean Halton hit a double to left field to score another run, and K.C. Hobson came home on a 4-3 putout to give the Barnstormers a 3-0 advantage. They tacked on another run in the next inning when Chase Patterson hit a solo shot to bring the score to its’ final of 4-0.

The Blue Crabs will have a chance to even the series in the final game against the Barnstormers tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. at Regency Furniture Stadium.  For tickets and information, log on to, or call 301-638-9788.
