York, PA—Brandon Chaves hit a walk- off single against Blue Crabs reliever Cody Eppley in the 9th inning defeating the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 5-4 and helping the York Revolution secure a series-clinching victory at People’s Bank Park on Thursday afternoon.

York’s Joel Guzman’s single sparked the 9th-inning rally, as Andres Perez followed with a single to left field, Kevin Rivers singled to center, Bryan Pounds followed with a walk ahead of Chaves’ base hit to right field, with Perez scoring from third and Rivers scoring from second to close out the series.

Blue Crabs lefty Brian Burres continued his recent run of success and designated hitter Michael Snyder blasted his 15th home run, while third baseman Angel Sanchez followed suit for his fourth home run of the season.

Center fielder D’arby Myers singled to left field to extend his hitting streak to 18 games, an Atlantic League high. He’s 9-for-23 in his past five games, and has reached base in 18 consecutive games.

The Revs were held to just one run through the first five and one-thirds innings before center fielder Travis Witherspoon delivered a home run off starting pitcher Burres to make the score 4-2.

Burres went seven innings, striking out eight batters, allowing two runs on four hits including Witherspoon’s solo shot in the sixth and York’s reliever Nate Reed picked up his first win of the season.
