The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs let a 7-0 lead evaporate losing to the Somerset Patriots 10-7 on Tuesday night at Regency Furniture Stadium.

The Blue Crabs scored four runs on three hits in the bottom of the second inning. Jamar Walton scored on an RBI groundout by Angel Flores, and Angel Sanchez hammered a two-out two-run homer to left center.

The power surge continued in the third. D’arby Myers launched a solo bomb that cleared the mini monster wall in left field. Two batters later Zach Wilson cranked a two-run homer to left field hitting the top of the clubhouse to pad the lead 7-0.

After cruising through the first five innings, the Patriots chased Blue Crabs starting pitcher Daryl Thompson in the top of the sixth after giving up four runs, three of them earned. Thompson left the game after striking out three batters, giving up nine hits and putting in five and one-third innings of work.

The Patriots tightened the score in the top of the sixth when they scored four runs on six hits.  Somerset tied the score in the seventh when Bryan LaHair laced an RBI double down the left field line to score Eggleston, pinch runner Scott Kelly scored on a wild pitch and then LaHair scored on Fields RBI single.

The Patriots came on strong in the eighth when they took the lead against the Blue Crabs for good. Mycal Jones led off with a walk, Kelly and LaHair hit back-to-back RBI doubles to pour on more runs.
