SUGAR LAND, TX— The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs closed out their road trip in Texas taking the series from the Skeeters on Wednesday night with a 4-1 victory at Constellation Field.

The Blue Crabs wasted no time in the first inning after catcher Norberto Susini hit an RBI single that floated into left center to score third baseman Bryant Nelson for the first run of the game.

In the bottom of the third, Skeeters third baseman Jeff Dominguez smoked a solo home run to right field to knot the game up at one a piece, but the Blue Crabs quickly regained the lead when center fielder D’arby Myers hit an RBI single to plate left fielder Kuan-Jen Chen, and the Crabs took the lead 2-1. That was more than enough offense for starting pitcher Parker Frazier.

Two more runs came in the fifth when Blue Crabs right fielder Zach Wilson hit a line drive single into left field, followed by back-to-back walks. Chen roped a tripled into right field to score a pair of runs to extend the lead 4-1.

Blue Crabs starting pitcher Tim Sexton continued his stellar performance on the mound and retired eight straight batters. Sexton was able to dig himself out of a hole in the bottom of the 7th when the bases were loaded with two outs after shortstop Eric Garcia made an error on a routine ground ball and then was relieved by Orlando Santos.

The Skeeters tried to mount a rally in the eighth when second baseman Ricky Hague scored on a sacrifice fly but fell short after leaving two runners on base.

Blue Crabs manager Jeremy Owens worked his bullpen, utilizing four relievers to hold the lead while RHP Cody Eppley picked up his 11th save.

Southern Maryland returns home for a season long eight game homestand beginning tomorrow night with the York Revolution.  The first pitch is set for 7:05 P.M.  For tickets, call 301-638-9788, or log on to somdbluecrabs.com.  If you can’t make it out to the park, you can listen to all of the Blue Crabs action on youtube.com, Southern Maryland Blue Crabs page, or allinbroadcasting.com.
