YORK, PA.—RHP Jorge Martinez threw six solid innings and allowing four hits for the Revolution, while the Revolution offense banged out the second most hits against the Blue Crabs this season with 16 en route to a 10-0 victory over Southern Maryland.
The Revolution got on the board early in the bottom of the first on a Joel Guzman single. In the bottom of the third and the bases loaded, Michael Burgess walked to the plate and ripped a bases clearing double to make it 4-0. Bryan Pounds ripped a two run single in the bottom of the fifth to add two more runs to the scoreboard. The Revolution put the icing on the cake with four runs scored in the bottom of the sixth, highlighted by a Bryan Pounds two run homerun.
Michael Burgess and Bryan Pounds each drove in three runs for York on the evening. Meanwhile, Southern Maryland had just one extra base hit, while leaving seven runners on base. RHP Tim Sexton gave up six earned runs in just one inning of work out of the bullpen, while starter Gaby Hernandez went four innings, allowing four earned runs.
Game two of the series will take place tomorrow evening at Peoples Bank Ballpark. The first pitch is set to be thrown at 6:30.
