BLUE CRABS FALL TO DUCKS DESPITE EARLY LEAD IN GAME ONE

May 14, 2016, Central Islip NY – The Blue Crabs and Ducks played game one of a two game, day night doubleheader on Saturday. Despite an early lead, the Blue Crabs dropped game one by a score of 9-5.

Southern Maryland struck early in the first, jumping out to a 4-0 lead with the help of an Long Island error and consecutive hits and sac flies to score D’Arby Myers, Zach Wilson, Jamar Walton and Kuan Chen-Jen. 

Long Island scored in the bottom of the frame to make it 4-1. The Ducks then tied the game in the third with a Lew Ford 3-run home run. The Ducks would take the lead for good in the fourth with a Anthony Vega RBI single in the fourth. The Ducks tacked on three in the fifth and one in the sixth to make nine runs scored in the game. Jamar Walton hit a solo home run the fifth to make the Blue Crabs run total rest at five.

Shaun Garceau went 4.0 innings allowing six earned runs. Bruce Kern went 4.2 innings allowing all five Blue Crabs runs. The seven inning contest will be followed by a nine inning game in New York on Saturday evening. Tim Sexton will face Darin Downs.
