Somerset N.J.—Somerset came into the evening the only undefeated team in the Atlantic League. They move to 12-0 with their victory over Southern Maryland this evening 4-1 at TD Bank Ballpark in New Jersey.
Both starting pitchers fared very well as RHP Shaun Garceau for Southern Maryland and Mickey Storey for Somerset gave up just one run apiece. With the game tied at one apiece heading into the eighth, Southern Maryland took the lead on a Kuan Jen-Chen single to bring the score to 2-1 Southern Maryland.
In the bottom of the eighth RHP Justin Berg was summoned out of the bullpen with one out. With a runner on base, Eric Farris singled to put two runners on with one out. Two batters later, Robert Kral singled to score Mycal Jones to tie the game at 2-2. The next hitter Trayvon Robinson ripped a triple to the right field corner to score Farris, and Kral to bring the score to 4-2 Somerset.
RHP Jon Hunton picked up the save in the ninth to send the Blue Crabs to their fourth straight loss. D’Arby Myers made his debut for the Blue Crabs tonight and the outfielder went 2-3 with a run scored. Games two and three will be played tomorrow in a day night doubleheader with game one beginning at 1:05. LHP Brian Burres(0-1, 3.12) will toss for the Blue Crabs, while LHP Efrain Nieves (1-0, 1.00) will start for Somerset. In game two, RHP Jon Leicester (0-2, 6.00) will take the bump for the Blue Crabs, and LHP Jeremy Horst (1-0, 1.55) will start for Somerset
