Bluefish is over as Southern Maryland handed Bridgeport the 4-2 defeat.
Southern Maryland scored first in the bottom of the first on
a Jovan Rosa RBI single to score Fred Lewis to make it 1-0. In the top of
the fourth Bridgeport put up two runs to take the lead. Josh Prince
singled and later stole second. Wilson Batista then singled in Prince to

phenomenal plays in the middle of the game. In the top of the sixth, with
Andres Rodriguez at the plate, and runners at first and third. The runner
at first Jobduan Morales took off for second. The catcher Craig Maddox
came up throwing to second base. Jake Optiz caught the baseball, and

could score to end the inning.
Fast forward to the top of the eight inning, Wellington
Dotel would ground one back to RHP Cody Eppley who fielded it cleanly and threw
on to first base for the out. The runner Josh Prince attempted to take
third base, with Zach Wilson firing one to the third base bag to get Prince who
was tagged out. Off that momentum, Southern Maryland scored the winning
runs in the bottom of the frame. With the bases loaded and two outs,
Jamar Walton singled to center to score two runs to make it 4-2.
Bridgeport put two runners on in the top of the ninth, but
Erik Hamren shut things down with the save, and secured the victory for the
Blue Crabs. RHP Jake Hale started the game but left after 2.2 innings,
with a minor finger injury. The combination of Korpi, Santos, Eppley, and
Hamren held the Bluefish to just two runs. Fred Lewis had another good
game at the plate, going 2-3 with two runs scored, and starting the rally in
the bottom of the eighth.
