(York, PA., June 16th 2015) – The Revolution received a combination of early runs and great pitching from starter Matt Neil as they picked up the victory over the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs in game one 5-0.
In the bottom of the first, York got on the board by scoring two runs on three hits. Bryan Pounds singled and was followed by a Telvin Nash single to left to put runners on first and second. The next hitter, Nick Ferdinand, doubled in both Pounds and Nash to make it 2-0. The bottom of the second mirrored the first inning as the Revolution scored two more runs. Starlin Rodriguez hit a two run home run to make it 4-0.
York added one more run in the bottom of the third. With two outs, Yeicok Calderon doubled to right and was followed by a Salvador Paniagua single to score Calderon to make it 5-0. The revolution had 10 hits overall tonight. The big story of the ballgame, however, was starter Matt Neil who went eight innings, allowing just six hits and striking out four. From the 5th-8th innings, Neil retired 12 straight Blue Crabs hitters.
Game two of the three-game series is tomorrow. The first pitch is set for 6:30 P.M. LHP Rommie Lewis (4-4, 2.36) will throw for York, while RHP Jake Hale (6-2, 1.98) will start for Southern Maryland.
