Blue Crabs Drop Series Finale Versus Riversharks

(Waldorf, MD., June 14th, 2015)—Southern
Maryland fell to the Camden Riversharks this afternoon at Regency Furniture
Stadium by the final of 9-5 to take the final game of the four game set this
weekend.

For the second straight game, Camden got on the board first
scoring a run in the top of the first on a Carlos Guzman RBI Single to make it
1-0.  In the bottom of the second with a Craig Maddox opposite field
homerun over the wall in left field to make it 2-1.  In the bottom of the
third after a Casey Stevenson single to right, Zach Wilson drove him in with an
RBI double to make it 3-1.

Camden would retake the lead, scoring four runs on five hits
in the top of the fourth.  Ryan Strieby and Paddy Matera both singled and
that was followed by a Daniel Rockett RBI Double to left field to score
Strieby.  The next hitter Norberto Susini would clear the bases with an
RBI double scoring Matera and Rockett to make 4-3.  Michael Rockett
followed with a double to score Susini to make it a 5-3 and chase starter Brian
Grening out of the ballgame.

Southern Maryland added a run in the sixth on a Tyler Wagner
RBI single, but Camden would pull away scoring a run in the eighth, and three
in the ninth.  In the eighth, Carlos Guzman drove in Michael Rockett on
RBI single, and in the top of the ninth, with Ryan Strieby at first, Paddy
Matera stepped to the dish, and drove one over the wall in left for a two run
homerun.  A few batters later, Michael Rockett drove in his brother Daniel
with a sacrifice fly to bring the score to the final of 9-5.

RHP Sean Gleason picked up the win, going six innings,
allowing four runs on 10 hits, and striking out one.  Guzman, Strieby,
Matera, and the Rockett brothers all had two hits apiece.

Southern
Maryland will have an off day tomorrow, and hit the road for a seven game

road trip starting first in York on Tuesday night
against the Revolution.  The first pitch is set for 6:35 P.M.

The team returns home next Tuesday for a three game set against York. Before that, Regency Furniture Stadium will play host to a match-up of Team USA Softball and the Maryland All-Stars on Thursday, June 18. Get your tickets today!
