Leicester, Blue Crabs keep things rolling with 4-1 win over Skeeters.

(Sugar Land, TX. May 28th, 2015) – Now just two wins away from the 1,500 career managerial wins mark, Stan Cliburn has now led the Blue Crabs to seven wins out of the last 10 games and six straight wins after tonight’s 4-1 victory over the Sugar Land Skeeters.

The Blue Crabs did all of their scoring the second inning, and every RBI was recorded as a result of a single.

It all started with a Daryle Ward single to start the second inning. After advancing to third base following an error by the third baseman on a Casey Frawley at bat, CF Antone DeJesus plated Ward with a single. Later, Renny Osuna scored Casey Frawley on a single. Both DeJesus and Osuna would go onto score after another error by the Skeeters, this time committed by LF Denny Almonte. The Blue Crabs would exit the second inning with a 4-0 lead, and Sugar Land Skeeters starting pitcher Derek Blacksher would record no earned runs as a result of the two errors.

Pitching for the second time this season, newcomer Jon Leicester would keep the Skeeters off the board and record his first win on the season after tossing six strong innings of five-hit ball while striking out five and walking just one.

The Skeeters did manage to get on the board in the ninth inning against Blue Crabs reliever Wade Korpi. Skeeters short stop Beamer Weems scalded a solo home run over the wall with one out in the bottom of the ninth; however, Korpi was able to record his first save on the season after retiring Patrick Palmeiro and Denny Almonte on a fly out and a strikeout respectively.

The Blue Crabs will continue their series against the Skeeters tomorrow night in Sugar Land with a scheduled start time of 8:05pm (EST). ESPN 3 will have coverage of the game.
